World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital

Shahjahanpur, August 8, 2026 — Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital, Banthra, Shahjahanpur, successfully organized World Breastfeeding Week from 1st August to 7th August 2026 through its Department of Community Medicine. The week-long program aimed to raise awareness among mothers and the general public about the importance of breastfeeding for a healthy start to life.

The activities were aligned with the 2026 global theme: “Breastfeeding: A Foundation for a Sustainable and Healthy Future – Strengthen Effective Efforts.”The entire program was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta and coordinated by Dr. Mohammad Intehkhab Alam Chand.

Key Highlights of the Week

Day 1: August 1 – Urban Health Training CentreThe program began at the Urban Health Training Centre, UHTC. Interns and postgraduate residents, Dr. Hritika and Dr. Aditya, conducted health awareness sessions and interactive lectures on breastfeeding.

Day 2: August 3 – Rural Health Training CentreA similar public awareness program was held at the Rural Health Training Centre. Interns, PG students, Dr. Arnav and Dr. Yogesh led the sessions to educate rural communities.

Day 3: August 4 – Patient Waiting AreaAn inspirational video on breastfeeding was screened in the patient waiting area under the coordination of Dr. Vinayak and supervision of Dr. Waqar.

Day 4: August 5 – Department of Community MedicineA seminar on breastfeeding was conducted using blackboard and chalk methods. The presentation was delivered by Dr. Danish and the session was moderated by Dr. Ajay.

Day 5: August 7 – Closing CeremonyThe week concluded with a Poster Presentation Competition held in the patient waiting area. The event was hosted by Dr. Purva.
