World Diabetes Day 2025 – “Diabetes Across Life Stages” Celebration at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital

Varun Arjun Medical College and Rohilkhand Hospital, Banthra–Shahjahanpur, celebrated World Diabetes Day 2025 on November 14 with remarkable enthusiasm and awareness. Centered on the global theme “Diabetes Across Life Stages,” the program focused on the growing impact of diabetes across all ages and emphasized its prevention, early diagnosis, and effective management. The event was graced by Principal and Dean Dr. Col. R. N. Shukla, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Amit, and Dr. Shivani Gupta, under the leadership of Head of the Department of Community Medicine, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta. The celebrations included awareness lectures by Dr. Raghav on lifestyle changes and early detection, followed by an oath administered by Dr. Anam, where MBBS students pledged to spread diabetes awareness in society. A poster presentation competition was also organized, featuring participation from faculty members like Dr. Intekhab Alam Chand, Dr. Aditya, and Mr. Atul Saxena, along with doctors such as Dr. Arslan, Dr. Charandeep, Dr. Danish, Dr. Waqar, Dr. Afzal, Dr. Nirmal, and posted interns.Parallel outreach programs were conducted by the Department of Community Medicine at both urban and rural health training centers. At UHTC, Dr. Hitika and interns educated local residents about diabetes prevention and management, while at RHTC, Dr. Faria led free diabetes screening and counseling sessions focusing on diet, exercise, and lifestyle control. The Pediatrics Department contributed by highlighting the growing risk of diabetes due to childhood obesity, poor diet, and excessive screen time. Concluding the event, Dr. Col. R. N. Shukla appreciated the department’s efforts, emphasizing that awareness remains the strongest defense against diabetes. Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta expressed pride in the students and staff for their commitment to community service, stating that continuous public education is key to combating diabetes. The celebration reinforced the institution’s mission to enhance public health, prevent diseases, and deliver quality healthcare while inspiring students to become responsible, compassionate medical professionals.
