World Breastfeeding Week 2025 celebrations with awareness Programs and Community Outreach

Under the aegis of Varun Arjun University, Varun Arjun Medical College and Rohilkhand Hospital, Shahjahanpur (U.P.) celebrated World Breastfeeding Week from 1st to 7th August 2025 with great enthusiasm. Several academic, cultural, and community activities were held to promote awareness.
On 5th August, the Department of Pediatrics conducted the main cultural and awareness program. Pro-Chancellor Dr. Ashok Agarwal and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kiran Agarwal encouraged participants, while Dean Dr. (Colonel) Ravindranath Shukla highlighted the biological and social importance of breastfeeding. Vice Principal Dr. Santhana Krishnan emphasized the role of family support. Dr. Avinash Lukade, Head of Pediatrics, elaborated on health benefits for both mother and child. Deputy MS Dr. Amit Singh and AO Mr. Lalit Chauhan spoke on emotional bonding, while Dr. Dharmendra Gupta (Community Medicine) and Dr. K.G. Paul (Obstetrics & Gynecology) shared further insights.
Students creatively conveyed messages through skits, poems, slogans, and posters, stressing that exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months provides complete nutrition and protection against diseases. The event was coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Vindhya Srivastava.
On 7th August, the Department of Community Medicine organized a Quiz Competition and Seminar on breastfeeding. Additionally, Urban Health Training Center (UHTC) and Rural Health Training Center (RHTC) conducted outreach programs to spread awareness among local residents.
