IDA Drug Administration Program: Strengthening Community Awareness

An awareness and training program regarding IDA drug administration was organized on 09/02/2026 by the Department of Community Medicine at Varun Arjun Medical College & Rohilkhand Hospital. The program was conducted in the presence of Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta, Head of the Department, who explained in detail the importance of IDA drugs in the elimination of filariasis to the students and interns present.
On this occasion, Dr. Pradeep Singh, Principal of the Pharmacy College, was also present. MBBS interns and pharmacy students actively participated in the session. Mr. Arun Mishra from WHO and Filaria Inspector Sudhanshu provided practical training and explained the correct method of administering the drugs safely to the community.
In his address, Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Gupta emphasized that collective efforts and timely drug consumption are essential for the elimination of filariasis. He motivated students and interns to spread awareness in society.
Approximately 50 MBBS interns and pharmacy students will work as “Drug Administrators” in the IDA round under the Lymphatic Filariasis Elimination Program and will play an important role in door-to-door drug administration and public awareness.
The main objective of the program was to familiarize students with the technical and medical aspects of the campaign and to strengthen community awareness about IDA drug administration. All participants pledged their support to make the filariasis elimination campaign successful.
